Valentino Haute Couture Spring '23

With flirty textures and colors reminiscent of a Ladurée macron, the Valentino Spring ‘23 Couture collection brings feminine energy into the forefront.

The fashion trends of the past few years have seen a rise in minimalistic looks with an emphasis on neutral tones and tailored silhouettes. Coming out of a traumatic time frame meant that fashion was generally geared toward practicality and comfort rather than experimentation and playfulness. My own style seemed to focus on all black palettes and yoga pants for days on end. I have greatly missed dressing like a birthday cupcake but the times have not been right for it yet. Until now!!!

Spring 2023 Paris Fashion Week was filled with the most epically gorgeous combination of soft but vibrant colors, voluminous fabrics, and feminine details. Bows on bows on bows. Pink pink pink. For a former power-pop girly girl like me, this was a very exciting moment in fashion. This fashion escapism is exactly what I have been needing more of in my life - a breakup with all black, dull, safe outfits that do not make me feel vibrant and beautiful. Taking cues from PFW 23, I plan on putting together more looks full of color and life, ruffles and fuchsia.

Get Dolled with Glossier

I am a huge fan of Glossier makeup and have worked with them as an ambassador since 2016. Their most recent 2021 holiday campaign is so chic and playful that I was inspired to recreate on of the looks. I am truly not great at makeup but I had fun attempting this one! Tip: I found that you can use Cloud Paint as an eyeshadow base for a wash of warmth in lieu of pink shadow :)

The Dreamgirls
dreamgirl-1.png

Do you know what it means to be a Dreamgirl? No? Good because I just made it up. If you said you knew what it meant you’d either be bluffing or psychic & both of those things wig me out. Or maybe you just used basic context clues and got the gist of what it means, but stop guessing and allow me to explain “Dreamgirls™ ” to you.

Being a Dreamgirl™ /Dreamboy™ /Dreamhuman™  (or even Dreamcat™ , looking at you Mimosa) means showing up to life as the best, most unapologetically badass version of yourself, for yourself. It means visualizing your dream life and knowing that it is yours to create, piece by piece. It is being the highest version of yourself while also being gentle with your humanness. Dreamgirls refuse to stay discouraged when they are met with conflict. The short version is that being a Dreamgirl is becoming your own role model. And you can be one as soon as you decide to be.

Questions to start waking up your inner Dreamgirl:

  1. What is your Dreamgirl, highest-vibe self doing in the future? What are they doing 15 minutes from now? What are they doing that scares the total crap out of you but secretly deep down you long to do?

  2. How do you set yourself up to be a Dreamgirl in your daily life? What does your Dreamgirl self eat, wake up thinking, do in traffic, tell to themselves, etc?

  3. How do you manifest your Dreamgirl self into your current reality? (Hint: Its piece by piece)

I am well aware that being a Dreamgirl means something different to each one of us. I’m deeply curious to find out what it means to the inspiring individuals around me and to share all the deets, stories, and advice with you here. Let’s explore how they put this high-vibe shit into practice on a daily basis! Ready for my first interview series?? It is going to be lit.

5 Notes on Feeling Good

Hello, friends! I’m happy to be back from a much needed hiatus from posting on my site. To be entirely honest with you, the past year was the most tumultuous period I've yet experienced and I’d been feeling drained of joy. My heart was broken and it allowed self-doubt to seep into everything around me. I was constantly comparing myself to others and feeling like I was coming up short of my own hyper-critical expectations. If you have ever wanted to crumple up an entire year and throw it in the trash then you get my drift. I knew that I desperately needed to take a step back from putting pressure on my creativity and give myself space to heal. In that space, I read some books, allowed myself to feel sad, angry, and everywhere in-between, had countless meaningful conversations with my friends, family and therapist. Most significantly, I attempted as hard as I could to give myself grace. I’d like to share a few thoughts I came out on the other side with with you.

1. Run hand-in-hand with your imperfections. You are the only you out there and that is wildly amazing.

2. Progress is happening, even when you feel like shit. There will be days where you feel great for 15 minutes and then feel like hiding under the bed for 4 hours - this doesn’t mean you aren’t healing and making progress! Your experiences day to day leave you as a different, more self-aware person than you were the day before.

3. Even when you feel completely alone, broken beyond repair, and ready to give in, you are worthy of complete unconditional acceptance.

4. Be gentle with yourself. Where we rob ourselves of acceptance is where we need it the most.

5. Become your own role model. Look to others for inspiration, see what you like about them, and decide to take specific actions in becoming that person for yourself.
